Simply Calligraphy by Judy Detrick

My Review

Simply Calligraphy is a beautiful book, one well worth having as a wonderful reference tool. The pages are good quality and the spacing and font are easy on the eyes.

The author teaches lettering step by step using illustrations with arrows showing the direction your pen should go to achieve the desired letter. I recommend this book to anyone interested in learning how to letter beautifully.

Thanks to Blogging for Books and Watson-Guptill Publications for giving me this beautiful book. I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review.

Black Friday Cyber Monday Facebook Event!

Yesterday I wrote about the Black Friday/Cyber Monday event that Kim Mutch Emerson and Mater Koda Select Publishing Sponsors and today I am happy to let you in on a secret they told me. They have started an eBook site where readers can continue to get deep discounts on books and get the news first on any up-coming events. All you have to do is go subscribe to their newsletter in the top left corner of this website
Oh and don’t forget to stop in at the party going on right now on Facebook. It’s not too late to get your chance to win the grand prizes.

Black Friday Event Come Check it Out!

Sometimes the holidays can be a depressing time. Kim Mutch Emerson and the gang at Master Koda Select Publishing have found a way to boost my spirits. Each year they host a big giveaway on Facebook to celebrate books and life. It starts on Friday after Thanksgiving and goes throughout the weekend. There’s plenty of chances to win all kinds of prizes (including a $100.00 gift card), but the best part is being a part of the fun. Laughter lifts the heaviest heart and they excel in laughter. Meet me at the party and see what I mean.

The self publishing tornado

Am I the only one who finds the whole self publishing thing  a bit of a hassle?

No, I can’t be the only one. I refuse to believe no one else feels this way. There has to be more people out there like me.

When I published my first novel, Redemption, back in October 2011, it was exciting to go through the whole process and come out the other end feeling like I was finally a ‘Writer.’ Now though, it feels like I’m walking into a black cloud that will eat me up, throw me around a bit…

The First Step Toward Permanent Growth

Alex’s writing promises to be great!

Official Site of Alex Laybourne - Author

Today was the day! A new milestone was reached and a marker laid. The foundations of growth are being laid, and the winds of change are blowing through my writerly sails. I am preparing to bid adieu to the doldrums and stride forth into the great beyond ready to take on everything that stands in my way; follow me or be crushed.

Okay, that might be a little over the top on the drama, but I did send out my first newsletter this morning. To a whole eleven willing souls nonetheless.

It might not be much, but it is a start, and I really am excited about the idea of making this newsletter something regular.

Writing 12

Right now it will be used to replace my weekly wrap up post on the blog. There are two reasons why I chose that post for the newsletter. It is a nice post that gives…
