What if one morning you look in the mirror and no longer recognize the person looking back?
When Leelo can no longer identify herself by the roles that once defined her, it’s both terrifying and liberating. Oh, she feels the loss, the grief, and then the anger, but when she inherits property up north, she jumps at the promise of freedom and independence.
Yet not everyone in her new community is what they seem, starting with the surly mountain man down the road.
As owner of the local fishing lodge, Roar is content with his everyday life. And the older he gets, the less he appreciates change. So when a blue-haired, tattooed ‘city girl’ moves into the old motel, shaking up his daily routine, he’s none too pleased.

Still, something about the woman’s easy smile and almost reckless grit has him step up as her keeper.

I slap my thigh where a mosquito just bit me. I wipe at another one that lands on my arm, and pretty soon the buzzing is loud around my head, and I’m frantically waving my hand around my face. A blood-sucking army is out tonight, and I scramble to my feet, snatch up the now empty bottle, and hustle toward the sanctuary of my house.
My heart lodges in my throat when I see a figure detach itself from the shadows of the porch.
“Was wondering how long it would fucking take before you came running.”
I bend over, gasping to get air in my lungs, when I hear the voice.
“I swear, Riordan Doyle…one day you’ll be the death of me.”
“Not what I had in mind,” he chuckles easily, as he grabs my arm, drags me inside, and out of the way of the charging mosquitoes.
“What are you doing here?” I ask, as he takes the bottle from my hand, sets it on the counter, and pulls me into my living room. There he drops down on the threadbare couch and tugs me down beside him. “I thought you went home?”
“I did,” he confirms, throwing his arm over my shoulder and tugging me to his chest. “And I was just putting my feet up on the coffee table when I realized I didn’t want to be there.”
“No?”
“No,” he repeats. “Couldn’t relax. Started thinking about this…thing…between us. And you know what? Waiting for the right time is for the fucking birds.”
“It is?”
“It absolutely fucking is,” he says with conviction, curving his free hand along my jaw and turning my face toward him.
His hazel eyes are almost black in the scarce light of my living room, his heavy-lidded gaze roaming my features before settling on my lips.
“I’m thinking right now sounds like the right time.”
I can feel the deep rumble of his voice down to my toes, and my own drops a few octaves lower as well.
“You do?” I mutter breathlessly as his head bends down.
It’s clear from my distinctly unimaginative responses that my brain cells have signed off for the day. I’m starting to sound like a goddamn parrot, but Roar doesn’t give me time to linger on that thought. His mouth is already on mine and his tongue is demanding entry.
One moment I’m tucked beside him on the couch, and the next I’m on my back, Roar’s heavy frame covering me, his lips still firmly fused to mine. Good God the man can kiss.

Freya is the best writer I’ve read to create people, real people and not perfect characters.  Leelo, the woman who comes to Wawa to escape a bad divorce, has so many obstacles thrown at her. Anyone else would have turn around and left, not her. She’s tough, flawed, and a hell of a woman. Roar, is her match in every way, no one else could be but him.

A fantastic story that keeps the bumps and bruises coming, I loved it. Watch out for Freya Barker, she’s writing better and better stories. I can hardly wait for the next one. Five *****

Freya Barker inspires with her stories about ‘real’ people, perhaps less than perfect, each struggling to find their own slice of happy. She is the author of the Cedar Tree Series and the Portland, ME, novels.
Freya is the recipient of the RomCon “Reader’s Choice” Award for best first book, “Slim To None,” and is a finalist for the 2016 Kindle Book Awards for “From Dust”. She currently has two complete series and three anthologies published, and is working on two new series; La Plata County FBI—ROCK POINT, and Northern Lights. She continues to spin story after story with an endless supply of bruised and dented characters, vying for attention!

USA Today Bestselling Author D.L. Roan

The Blurb

A third-generation rancher, Dani McLendon is destined to become the first woman to ever manage her family’s ranch. Running Falcon Ridge is her birthright, her honor, her responsibility. It’s all she’s ever dreamed of doing, until a long-legged, cowboy-built Texan saunters into their barn with his dimpled smile and changes everything with a risky dare.

One of the most important lessons Clay Sterling’s father taught him about working with a high-spirited filly is to work with her, not against her. Clay’s wanted Dani since the moment he laid eyes on her. He needs her as a partner in his latest business venture, and he wants her in his bed. Convincing the spitfire of a cowgirl to take a chance on him will be the fight of his life. He’s ready to go all twelve seducing rounds, but his prize in the end may be more than he bargained for. Clay veered toward the barn, rounding the corner into the aisle just in time to see Dani teetering at the top of a twelve-foot ladder, trying to unscrew a light bulb. “Whoa! Dammit!”

The ladder wobbled and Clay rushed to steady it.

Clay chuckled. “I’m helping.”

“Helping me do what? Break my neck?”

“I’d say you were doin’ a fine job of that yourself.”

Dani began to descend the ladder, but he tightened his grip. “Go on.” He tipped his chin at the light fixture hanging from the rafters. “I won’t let you fall.”

Dani arched a brow. “I appreciate this whole Prince Farming thing you’re doing, but I don’t need your help.”

“Sure you do,” Clay insisted with a wink. “You’re just too stubborn to admit it.”

Dani tried to step down again, but Clay refused to budge. “Just change the damn lightbulb before I have to start spoutin’ stupid jokes about how many cowgirls it takes to do the job.”

Dani narrowed her eyes, and Clay did the same, trying to keep his grin from ruining the effect. Dani caved first and turned back to the ladder. She climbed the extra step she needed to reach the fixture, the new position giving him the best view in the entire fucking universe.

Jesus flying footballs! Encased in hip-hugging denim, her ass was pure perfection. He was swamped with the sudden urge to sink his teeth into the round, firm flesh, right at the crease at the top of her long, lean thigh.

“I meant, what are you doing here,” she clarified. “Perpetuating your bromance with my dads?”

What? “No. I mean, yes.” Fuckin’ A. “Your dads are great, but I told you. I wanted to apologize to you in person.”

“I can feel you staring at my ass,” she said with a sigh.

Clay reached down and adjusted himself. “That makes two of us,” he muttered.

Dani stopped what she was doing and looked over her shoulder at him. “You’re not even going to deny it, are you?”

“Hell, woman,” he swore as he swiped the sweat from his brow. “It’s right in front of me. I’m a bonafide red-blooded Texan. Of course I’m gonna look.”

Dani considered him for a moment, then turned back to finish the job. The new lightbulb secured, she descended the ladder, but when she reached the bottom, Clay held tight to the frame, keeping her caged between him and the rungs.

“My horse died,” he said after she turned around.

His heartrate picked up as he stared down into her whiskey-colored eyes. The urge to kiss her was stronger than ever. When she licked her lips, he tightened his grip on the ladder. The timing wasn’t right. When he did finally kiss her, he planned to do it thoroughly, with plenty of time to savor her.

“What?” she finally asked, her brows furrowed in confusion.

“That’s why I left the drone project last winter,” he explained. “My horse died.”

She chewed on the inside of her lip in the most adorable way as she studied him. “Are you bullshitting me?”

Clay nodded. “No bullshit, I swear. She’d been sick for a while, but took a turn for the worse shortly after I got here. I’d had her since I was sixteen, Dani. When I got the call that she wouldn’t last another day, I had to go.” He left out the part about Gypsy being his mom’s horse before she’d died. He wasn’t ready to share that part of himself yet, and she’d just have to forgive him when he finally did tell her.

Her skepticism faded and she looked away. “I’m sorry,” she offered as she ducked beneath his arm and escaped his trap, “but why didn’t you just tell me that?”

Clay crossed his arms over his chest and met her gaze. “I was trying to impress you.” That part was one hundred percent true. “I’m not accustomed to allowing personal issues to interfere with business. I didn’t want to give you the impression I wasn’t completely committed to what I do, not when I was about to offer you a job I desperately need you to accept.”

Dani scoffed. “Are you kidding me? I would have understood that explanation a hell of a lot better than the lame lie you fed me. What rancher wouldn’t?”

“It wasn’t exactly a lie,” he pushed to explain. “I did have a wind turbine freeze up on one of my sites in Idaho, but I blew it off, too.” He uncrossed his arms and walked over to her, taking the blown bulb from her hands and laying it on the workbench beside them. “I’m sorry I ditched you and ruined your project.” Being able to say the words directly to her, instead of leaving them on a voicemail he was sure she deleted without even listening to first, felt good. “If I had it to do over, I’d still have left. I owed it to Gypsy to be there to say goodbye, but I should have told you the truth.”

Her arms crossed over her chest, she looked everywhere but at him, staring down at her boots when she finally muttered, “Apology accepted.”

Clay grinned. “Really?”

Dani’s arms fell to her sides with her incredulous sigh. “Your horse died.” She peered over at one of the horses stalled across from them, then walked over to a bale of hay and picked off a handful. “I could never hold that against you,” she said as she offered it to the dapple-gray mare. He didn’t have to ask if it was hers. As he joined her at the stall door, he could see the unique connection shared between horse and rider since the beginning of time.

“What’s her name?”

“Silverado,” she said, and the horse’s ears perked up. “She was my twelfth birthday present.”

“Can we start over?” he asked, turning to gauge her reaction. He hadn’t meant to blurt it out, but he couldn’t wait another second to know where they stood.

She didn’t immediately respond. He reached out and ran his hand down the horse’s nose.

“What do you think, Silver girl?” she asked. “Should we give him another chance?”

Silverado bobbed her head, and Clay laughed out loud. “There you go. You can’t ignore good advice like that.”

Dani gave him a sideways glance, her beautifully bowed lips curling into an incredulous smile.

“Okay,” she said, “but I’m still not coming to work for you.” She stepped away from the stall and Clay grabbed her hands, lacing their fingers together.

“Fine. Have dinner with me instead.”

REVIEW

DL Roan revisits a theme that is still a bit taboo (that’s why I love it) a MMF relationship. The difference in this one is the two men are loving each other not just the woman. The story unfolds beautifully and in a realistic fashion; we see old familiar characters from previous books that help make the story a familiar and loving one. Jonah, Chloe, and Pryce, work through a series roadblocks throughout the book.

I highly recommend this ebook if you have always wanted to read about two men in love involved in a physical relationship. D L Roan writes beautifully and her stories are powerful, and don’t forget hot! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book.

Contains hot and sexy BDSM scenes among other things that might not appeal to the faint of heart. Enter at your own risk and enjoy the sensual indulgence of Hayden and Addie’s steamy story!
MY REVIEW

This is the fourth book in the Quantum series but works fine as a standalone. This book is about the fast-paced life of Hollywood and a close-knit group of friends that work in the business of film making. But, there is a twist; everyone is into a club scene that involves alternative sex.

Hayden is a well- known director who keeps a tight control over his life and then kisses Addie on Oscar night. This kiss sets off a chain of events that none of their friends could imagine.

I loved the complex characters in this story. They had secret lives in a place where everyone lives under a microscope. I enjoyed this book very much. This book is for adults only and if kinky sex scenes bother you, don’t read this book. I loved the ending and look forward to more books from Marie Force.

Synopsis

 photo Ebook_zpsjfheneht.jpg

An assignment has just turned interesting for GFI investigator Malachi Whitetail. When a shy, mousy woman walks into his local diner, it takes him a minute to recognize her as an employee of the real estate office he’s been monitoring. Not a believer in coincidence, Mal decides a closer look at the short brunette might be warranted. It will be the first, but certainly not the last time, he finds himself coming to her rescue.

Kimeo Lowe leads a pretty quiet existence, which is why, when she ends up a witness to a crime, her curiosity into her boss’s suspected shady dealings gets kicked into high gear. She may not be the most sociable of people, but she’s always been independent and industrious, so when an opportunity to dig a little deeper arises, she doesn’t think twice. It would seem that this time she’s bitten off a bit more than she can chew, and when a freakishly tall Native American Adonis intervenes not just once, she decides sleuthing may be best left to professionals. But it’s a bit too late.

Just when life has settled into a comfortable routine, Kim finds herself dealing with not just one, but two threats on her life. With every turn there are new challenges to face, and Mal is not about to let her face them alone. Not even when he turns out to be no match for her most dangerous enemy.

Mal

“Kimeo, you’ve gotta snap out of this.”
At the mention of her full name, her eyes finally snap open, looking wild and disoriented. It’s Boo’s soft whimpers from where his head is perched on the pillow next to hers, that seem to pull her back into the here and now.

“What?” Her voice sounds hoarse from the screaming. Turning her face away from Boo, her eyes finally focus on mine and she repeats, “What?”

“You were having a nightmare. Pretty bad from what I could tell. Do you remember?”
The confusion seems to disappear from her eyes only to be replaced with horror as she scans my face.

“Oh my God…did I do that?” Her shocked whisper has me raise a hand to my cheek where I feel a slight burn. It comes away bloody and instantly Kim’s eyes fill with tears. “I am so sorry…” Her fingers skim over my face, leaving a cool soothing trail in their wake.

“It’s fine. Just a scratch, honey. You did worse damage to yourself. Let’s get you cleaned up.” Without waiting for an answer, I reluctantly push up from her body and get off the bed, before pulling her off too. My hand firmly on the back of her neck, I guide her into the bathroom where she stares in shock at her reflection.

“I did that?”
“Mmm.” I grab a washcloth from the shelf and wet it under the tap before gently wiping her throat while lifting her chin up with my other hand. “It’s not that bad, have a look. Just a scratch,” I reassure her.

“I was in the supply closet and the door opened, but it wasn’t you. Just two eyes behind a mask. He had a knife.” Her body does a full on shiver and against my better judgment, I dump the washcloth in the sink and wrap her tight in my arms. “Just a dream,” I mumble in her hair.

“Yeah, but you rescued me again,” she whispers in my chest before tilting her head back to look at me. “Thank you.”

Fuck me. Those big liquid eyes, plump pouty lips, hell even the red blotches on her nose are impossible to resist. Keeping her gaze trapped with mine, I slant my mouth over hers and on her gasp of surprise, sweep my tongue inside for a taste. Sweet, hot, with a hint of spice—damn.
Big mistake.

When I feel the vibrations of her moan against my tongue I know I have to pull back or I’ll lose all control. That moan travels all the way down to my cock and I know there’s no way she missed that pressing in her belly.

Rather abruptly, I push her back by the shoulders. She has a dazed look on her face and I know exactly how she feels. In a last indulgence I run my thumb over her soft bottom lip before completely letting go of her.

“Have a shower. It’ll make you feel better. I’m gonna whip us up some dinner.” With that, I leave a not quite coherent Kim in the bathroom. So much for staying away from her…

MY REVIEW

Book number six of The Cedar Tree series was like going home again; slipping into the author’s vibrant and interesting characters make reading a wonderful experience.

Freya Barker shows mastery of deep, realistic characters and lots of action in her story. In Like Arrow we see deeper into Caleb’s brother Malachi who works for GFI Investigation. He was deeply troubled in his youth but has made a new life for himself.  While working a case for Gus he comes across Kimeo Lowe, who works for the company being investigated. Before long Kim is being hunted by dangerous people and Mal becomes her protector. It isn’t long before sparks fly between the two.

I love these people and reading another book in the series is like coming home again. Again and again, I am struck by the characters; long may Freya Barker reign. I was gifted this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

Early Feedback

This is not going to be a very long, drawn out review but only because there are only so many ways to say how much I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK!!! Freya Barker is one of my favourite authors…ever. I adore her writing style and LIKE ARROWS is now my favourite book in her Cedar Tree series. ~ Kez Korner

After reading Like Arrows by Freya Barker I have now added a new author to my “To be read” list. Kimeo and Malachi’s story sucked me in from the start. I love how she had these characters evolve in a way that brought them together as a strong couple with flaws, but who complimented and boosted each other up. ~ Alphas Do It Better Book Blog

I have read all of Freya Barker’s books in the Cedar Tree series and Like Arrows was freaking amazing. The story was fast paced and easy to read. I was hooked from the first page to the last. ~ Goodreads Review

About The Author

CUNNING 1

“He owns you. Whatever he tells you to do you do”.

One year. No future. A past that won’t go away.

Lennox “Nox” Demetri broke his own rule by making a deal. It may not have been directly with the devil, but that doesn’t mean Satan himself isn’t watching. Was it fate that brought Charli into his life and his bed? What will happen when rules are broken and secrets are revealed?

“New rules…my rules.”

Alex “Charli” Collins found pleasure with Nox like she’d never known. That was before she knew his last name. Now that Infidelity is involved and the rules have changed, what will result when real life and fantasy collide?

Is it really cheating if you’re doing it to yourself?

From New York Times and USA Today, bestselling author Aleatha Romig comes a sexy, new dominant hero who knows what he wants and a strong-willed heroine who has plans of her own. With classic Aleatha Romig twists, turns, deceptions, and devotions, the depth of this new, epic dark romance reaches new levels and will have readers swooning one minute and screaming the next.

Have you been Aleatha’d?

EXCERPT

CUNNING 1I did my best to appear nonchalant as the bellman used my key to open the door of the executive suite. As he flipped the switch in the dark entry, I scanned the luxurious suite. Beyond the light illuminating the foyer, the furnishings appeared modern and sleek, while the walls were covered in heavy drapery keeping the late afternoon sunlight at bay.

“Ma’am, I apologize,” the bellman said as he hurried across the living room. “Your suite has a spectacular view. Let me open—”

His feet and words stopped. My heart leapt to my throat. Stepping from a darkened doorway was a man who immediately dominated the executive suite.

“Sir, I didn’t know that anyone…”

I no longer heard the man in the Mandarin uniform. Nox was all I saw. His silence filled the air muting anything else. His pale eyes narrowed capturing mine. Without words his icy gaze bore through me, planting my feet and sealing my lips. Displeasure radiated from his every pore. Rage rippled from his chiseled jaw as the muscles in his face and neck flexed. My knees grew weak as I realized this wasn’t the man I remembered, but rather the man whose voice I’d heard on my call.

Only minutes earlier there had been so many things I’d planned to say and questions that consumed me. Yet, now, with Nox before me, none of them surfaced or made their presence known; instead the suite warmed as my heartbeat raced. I gripped tighter to my purse. With the winds of his displeasure swirling about the suite, I needed an anchor, something to ground me.

bcec4-excerpt-banner

“Cold Creek Grill.  How may I help you?”  She answered the phone as if her day was right as rain.  She was a business woman, first and foremost.

“I need a reservation for tonight,” a gravelly voice barked into the phone.  The caller was either on a cell phone with a bad connection or had a mouth full of marbles.

“Of course sir, what time are you looking for?”

“Seven,” he said impatiently and Amanda pictured him running to catch a subway.

“Let me make sure I have that available,” she told him, trying to buy time while she booted up the computer at the podium a few feet away.  She moved the phone to the other side of her head, forgetting it was a war zone and her hair crackled near her ear.

“Trust me, sweetheart, you have a table available.”

“Sir?” She didn’t know what to be more offended by, his use of the word sweetheart or the underlying threat that she better be able to seat him.  And she determined he was just some arrogant blowhard who was sitting with his feet up on his desk overlooking the water and a fat stogy in his mouth.

“A superstar is having dinner at your restaurant; you don’t want to make him wait.”

“All of our guests at the Cold Creek are VIPs Mr…?”

“Maybe I should speak to the owner?” he cut her off and she thought she heard more spit squish out of the end of his cigar.

“I am the owner.  My name is Amanda Cole.  To whom do I have the pleasure of speaking?”

“Don’t seat us someplace high traffic like near the front.  He’s not there to be an advertisement.  You’ll get your photo op.”

It sounded so scathing, like she was some sort of a bistro whore looking to make a buck, as if she would be interested in taking a picture with him in the first place.  Supreme Court justices and past presidents dined at the Cold Creek without incident.  “Mr. What-ever-your-name-is, I’m not only concerned for the comfort of our guests, but the safety of my staff.  And we have had some high profile guests in the past.  Several are regulars.”

“Yeah, yeah, I heard that.  That’s why I’m calling.  But lady, you never had anyone this big,” he said with an air of superiority that was nothing short of skin crawling.  At least he had upgraded her to lady.

If he wasn’t being such a total jack-ass, she might have taken him more seriously.  “Would you like to tell me who he is, so that I might inform security?” she said with overt sarcasm.  He could either take being spoken to in kind, or he would start to ream her out and she would hang up on him and he could dine elsewhere, bad business or not.

There was a pause and she thought he may have hung up on her first.  But then he said, “No.  Better you don’t know till he gets there.  Someone tips off TMZ and the night’s a bust.  And he brings his own security”

“Will they be joining you for dinner?”

His laugh was particularly smarmy.  “They’re not paid to eat.”

So he wasn’t only rude, he was also a tyrant.  “That’s fine, sir, they can stand guard with mine.”  Only hers were imaginary. She no longer cared if the computer was ready.  It was a Weds, they were rarely fully booked, and this man and his famous guest seemed intent on dining there.  He was probably going to be more aggravation than anything else, even if he was only half as self-important as his representative. “You’re all set, dinner for two at seven.  Would you like to leave me a name or is there a code word or what?”

There was another pause, and once again Amanda was given the false hope that he may have hung up and saved her from a night of inconvenient distractions at the very least.  But then she heard him on the other end, it sounded like a snort.

“You’re spunky, kid,” he told her.  “Name under Alan Shaw.  I’ll be there at 6:50.  I don’t like to wait either.  And make sure there are good steaks on hand, he’s a meat-eater.”

Amanda Cole is the type of girl where nothing seems to go her way. She’s strong, independent and owns her own popular restaurant, but love continues to evade her. The day she meets Chase Walker her life takes a good turn. She found Mr. Right. Amanda finds being in the spotlight hard to get used to but she does. When finally she has found the love of her life the unthinkable happens.

I’ve read Stephanie’s books before and had a certain expectation of what this book would be like. I’m happy to say I was totally surprised by this book. No spoilers but The Sweet Spot is very grown up and I fell in love with Amanda and Chase. Amazing how on the surface people can appear one way and yet have a secret that is totally opposite of their public image.

I loved this book with all its ups and downs and would recommend it highly. The book does have adult themes.

SIT! STAY! SPEAK!
A Novel
Annie England Noblin
Released Sept 9th, 2015
William Morrow

Echoing the novels of Mary Alice Monroe, Allie Larkin, and Holly Robinson, this charming debut novel tells the unforgettable story of a rescue dog that helps a struggling young outsider make peace with the past.

Addie Andrews is living a life interrupted. Tragedy sent her fleeing from Chicago to the shelter of an unexpected inheritance—her beloved aunt’s somewhat dilapidated home in Eunice, Arkansas, population very tiny. There she reconnects with some of her most cherished childhood memories. If only they didn’t make her feel so much!

People say nothing happens in small towns, but Addie quickly learns better. She’s got an elderly next door neighbor who perplexingly dances outside in his underwear, a house needing more work than she has money, a best friend whose son uncannily predicts the weather, and a local drug dealer holding a massive grudge against her.

Most surprising of all, she’s got a dog. But not any dog, but a bedraggled puppy she discovered abandoned, lost, and in desperate need of love. Kind of like Addie herself. She’d come to Eunice hoping to hide from the world, but soon she discovers that perhaps she’s finding the way back—to living, laughing, and loving once more.

Adelaide Andrews stared out the living room window and into the yard across the street where an elderly man, who she could only assume was her new neighbor, was frolicking through the sprinkler in his underwear. He was at least eighty years old and was very spry for his age. Every time the water shot up into the air, so did the man’s legs. It was as if he were involved in some kind of synchronized sprinkler event in the Olympics. Nobody came to ask the man to go back inside. Nobody asked him to stop.

Nobody offered him a towel or chased after him with a fistful of medications, which he’d clearly forgotten to take. When the sprinkler stopped several minutes later, so did the man. He didn’t even bother to shake himself off as he bounded up the steps and disappeared back inside the house.

This wasn’t what Adelaide had in mind when she moved from Chicago to the Arkansas Delta. She’d left the midwestern city to escape insanity, not to move in next door to it.

She turned back to the sea of boxes that covered her living room. She’d spent all day sorting and hadn’t even made a dent. She halfheartedly opened the box nearest her. Inside she found a hodgepodge of items, an indication that this had probably been one of the last boxes she packed up.

Looking up from the box, Adelaide scanned the room. Her aunt Tilda had died and left the house to her almost six months ago, and it was obvious that it had been empty for entirely too long. Well, not empty, exactly. Aunt Tilda died in the middle of the night—a stroke, the coroner said. Clearly, from the look of the place, her aunt hadn’t planned on dying. When she said in her will that she wanted everything to go to Addie, she’d meant it. Not even the toilet paper had been disturbed since the day of the funeral. She’d had several calls from the only real estate agent in town to see what had been left to her, but Addie couldn’t bring herself to do it. Yes, the hardwood floors needed to be refinished.

The walls needed to be repainted. The ceiling fans needed to be replaced, and all of this was just in the living room. She heard her aunt’s voice in her head. Someday this house will be yours, Addie. I hope you’ll take care of it like I have.

Addie hadn’t really believed her. What twelve-year-old pays attention to those kinds of things, anyway? Fifteen years later, the words hovered above her like the dust collecting in the corners of the walls. She’d let her aunt down over these last few months. She’d let everyone down, it seemed.

Review-Banner

Such a heartwarming story filled with southern charm and front porch gossip. Something is going on in Eunice Arkansas, something morally wrong and illegal.

Addie Andrews comes down from Chicago to fix her Aunt Tilda’s home or make it hers. She meets two strangers and one isn’t even human.

I adored this book. The characters were wonderful and warm. The history and gossip were tough to tell apart. Friends were family and the story is told as if a friend were talking on her front porch to a neighbor. Loved this book; been a while since I’ve read a story like this. A good old fashion story with a spin.  I recommend this story to my friends and neighbors.
